For smartphones and iPad in US, ALK Technologies in UK has come out with a real time traffic update service to CoPilot Live GPS navigation application.

In order to offer accurate ETA and avoid traffic congestion, Active Traffic calculates the best route using the real time traffic flow information. As and while you drive, it constantly monitors for route delays and quickly lets you know when a faster route is available. CoPilot live will then let you know the time saved and let you preview the route.

Division of heavy traffic is indicated in Red while those with moderate crowding in Yellow and traffic free roads in Green. The pricing and availability is not yet confirmed so far.

Customer of CoPilot Live v8 Andriod, Windows Mobile, iPhone and iPad will be able to trial Active Traffic free for 14 days and then buy a 12 month subscription only for £6.48428.
